The concept of the subject is central to sociology, political science, law, economics, psychology, and philosophy, and it also plays a crucial role in the natural sciences, particularly in biology and neuroscience. What may be termed subjectology— is the study of the subject rather than of society as an abstract entity. From this perspective, the object of the social sciences is understood as the subject itself: individuals conceived as social beings, as well as collective subjects such as societies, communities, and other forms of human collectivity.
