Abstract

This article proposes an integrated theoretical framework for analyzing the transformation of contemporary societies in the age of artificial intelligence. Based on three conceptual axes—subject theory, agnotology, and algorithmic governance—it develops a systematic interpretation of the processes through which digitalization reconfigures the production of knowledge, the generation of ignorance, and the forms of power.

First, the concept of the subject is reconstructed within the tradition of political theory and sociology in order to critically examine the possible consideration of artificial intelligence as a new form of agency. Second, the concept of artificial ignorance is introduced as a structural product of algorithmic systems. Finally, the notion of AI-CRACY is proposed as an emerging form of power based on the algorithmic management of knowledge and ignorance.

The article synthesizes arguments developed in three books by the author and argues that artificial intelligence does not reduce ignorance but rather transforms its mechanisms of production, distribution, and governance, with profound implications for sovereignty and democracy.
